United States Proof Sets are unique items that were first produced in 1936 with a very limited release.  Proof coins refer to the method of production and not the finish of the coins although proof coins usually are distinguished by their mirror like surfaces.  ** Note ** Due to the age of these sets, they tend to have writting on the outside of the box that can not be fixed.  The photo is a stock photo so your set may have some writing on it.
