The 2001 Capitol Visitor Center Proof Clad Half Dollar, struck in accordance with legislation passed by Congress and signed by President William J. Clinton on December 6, 1999, as Public Law 106-126.  This coin has been produced by the Department of the Treasury, United States Mint to commemorate the first convening of the Congress in the Capitol building.
