United States Proof Sets are unique items that were first produced in 1936 with a very limited release. Proof coins refer to the method of production and not the finish of the coins although proof coins usually are distinguished by their mirror like surfaces. In 1976 a special 3pc 40% Silver set was released to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the founding of the United States of America.
Each set contains:

- Kennedy half
- Eisenhower dollar
